Bushwick Open Studios this weekend!!

The Moore Street Market is once again pleased to be a participant in Bushwick Open Studios this year!

We are site 73 and the featured work is "Potentialis." The link to the BOS program is below -- it's a great event and we are expecting nice weather, so the work should show well.

In addition, we will be displaying the one-of-a-kind number signs designed by students at The Green School on Graham Avenue. Once the market construction is complete, we will be hanging these signs on every stall. The kids, with their teacher Brian Knoezler, did a great job!! I think I misspelled Brian's name, which may be one of the only names more complicated than my own -- sorry Brian!

Hope to "Meet you at the Market" this weekend.

Moore Street Market at Graham Avenue Fiesta -- May 19, 2012

The Market was well represented at the Annual Graham Avenue Fiesta, attended by thousands on a beautiful, sunny Saturday.

Thanks to Betty Cooney of the BID for loaning us the tent, along with some "muscle" to set it up. And thanks to Milton and Angel of the Moore Street staff who helped with set up and breakdown.

We got to say hello to Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, who came by to meet the vendors and talk with constituents.

Here are some pictures....

Bushwick Open Studios -- June 1-3

Moore Street Market will once again be a stop on the Bushwick Open Studios Tour on June 1-3. We will be featuring the work "Potentialis" by ISCP-sponsored artist Lotte Van den Audenaeron. This installation was featured a few blogs back, but it involves the play of light in the market as the pattern changes during the day, reflecting differing shadows on the walls and floors.

Let's hope for sunny weather, when the work is at its absolute best!

Maybe we'll set up a beverage station -- need to explore that a little more.

We are getting closer to our Grand Opening!

We are planning to "unveil" the new spaces as soon as they are complete, with a big open house bash, date to be announced. Meanwhile, I'll be starting to interview and select new vendors. If you or anyone you know is interested, please send me an email with the type of "store" you want to run. Preference will be given to food-related vendors, and the rents will be in the $450-$500 per month -- tenant pays for gas, electric and water.  But rent also includes trash removal, public bathrooms, heat and air conditioning, plus a public seating area.

Vendors have to be present on weekends and at least 4 days during the week.

Contact me at jgb@bedc.org if you're interested

Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, OH MY!!

Lots of activity at the market over the past two weeks! Sorry I've fallen behind in my postings. I actually missed Mother's Day due to a family obligation, so no pictures to post, but I know that the merchants gave out roses to the mothers and HealthFirst again provided a DJ and refreshments. Some Cinco de Mayo pictures to post below. I'll be at the Market this Wednesday and get some new progress photos.

JP Morgan Chase -- a great supporter of the market!

Bad photo of the DJ!

Chad of Petrol Coffee Roasters testing his product -- a future tenant I hope!

A happy customer

We had two Pinatas, and the kids had a great time breaking them! Gathering the candy (below)
